Privacy policy

This page explains what Outer Meridian stores about you, why, and what you can do about it.

What we store

  • Your email address, used to sign in and to send password-reset and confirmation links. It is never shown to other players.
  • Your username, which other players see.
  • Your password, stored only as an Argon2id hash. Nobody, including us, can read it back.
  • When your account was created, when you last signed in, and when and for how long you were connected to a game server.
  • For each computer you sign the launcher in on: the device name the launcher reports, when it was last used, and a hash of its sign-in key.
  • Your subscription state: when paid access runs to, and the identifiers of the billing events that set it.
  • Anything you build or own in the game world.

What we do not do

  • No advertising, no tracking cookies, and no third-party analytics or scripts on this site.
  • We do not sell or rent your data.

The site keeps your session in your browser's local storage so you stay signed in. It is not shared with any other site.

Payments

Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card number. Stripe tells us when a subscription is paid, renewed or cancelled, and we keep only the resulting dates.

Security

Passwords are hashed, one-time links and launcher keys are stored only as hashes, and every connection to the site is encrypted. Signing in the launcher happens in your browser, so the launcher never sees your password.

How long we keep it

Your account data is kept while your account exists, including after a subscription ends, so your ships and builds are there when you come back. Game server logs are kept for a limited time for security and troubleshooting.

Your choices

  • You can change your password, sign the launcher out on any computer, and see your play history from your account page.
  • You can ask for a copy of your data, or for your account and its data to be deleted, through the support page.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will say so on the news page before it takes effect.
